SOLAR HOT WATER

Electric water heaters account for in excess of 25% of a household’s energy use, therefore switching to a solar water heater is often the single best thing a consumer can do to reduce their household energy consumption and power bills.

The old myths that you run short of hot water when the sun doesn’t shine or that it takes a long time to install a solar hot water system are just that - myths. While most of the energy comes free from the sun, electric or gas boosters automatically cut in if the weather turns bad, so there’s always plenty of hot water, and a solar system installation can be completed in a matter of hours.

When replacing an electric hot water system, eligible households can claim the $1,000 rebate for solar water heaters, $600 rebate for a heat pump and renewable energy certificates which varies depending on the size of the solar hot water system installed

Greener Housing Solutions solar range of hot water systems is available with the option of Thermosiphon or Split system, electric or gas boost, closed loop (frost protected) or open loop. There is a variety of tank sizes and panel styles, so you can be assured that there is a system to suit every home and climate.

Thermosiphon Systems

Thermosiphon systems circulate water through the solar collectors to the storage tank using the thermosiphon principle that hot water rises naturally, hence eliminating the need for circulating pumps or other moving parts. A gas or electric backup booster provides energy during cloudy weather, so you can have plenty of hot water when you need it.

The thermosiphon system includes:

Tank sizes vary from 200 to 300 litres so there’s a size
to suit your particular needs.
Warranty

7 years from the date of initial installation on storage tanks, solar collector panels, mounting frames and brackets. All other minor parts are covered for 1 year, as is labour.

Connecting Kit
1. Sacrificial Anode
For superior protection against corrosion.

2. Built-In Thermostat
For convenience and safety.

3. External Coating

The extremely durable baked polyester outer casing is designed to withstand the harshest of conditions. It’s as tough as the outside of your house.

4. Polyurethane Insulation
Maximises heat retention and minimises heat loss for superior efficiency.

5. Storage Tank
The tanks are manufactured with a high quality Vitreous Enamel lining which protects the high strength steel from corrosion and enables the tank to withstand Mains pressure and high temperature.

6. Internal Glass-Enamel Coating
Protects against corrosion.

7. Energy Efficient Electric Element
An alternative source of energy for cloudy days ensures consistent supply of hot water 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. LPG and Natural Gas boosters are also available.
1. Absorber Plate
Copper fins ultrasonically welded to copper tubes provides maximum contact and excellent heat transfer resulting in a very highly efficient absorption rate of 95%. All copper construction means longer life and is far superior to aluminium and steel used by some other manufacturers.

2. Absorber Plate Coating
Available in black chrome or selective solar paint, these high performance solar absorption surfaces, when combined with the superior all-copper construction, results in the most highly efficient solar collector panels available. Their performance is unsurpassed, even in cooler climates or cloudy conditions.

3. Solar Glass - 3.2mm thick
The solar glass is patterned to reduce reflection and maximise solar transmittance to the absorber plate. It is tempered and thicker than others to maximise strength and durability in severe weather conditions like hail storms.

4. Tough Outer Case:

The extremely durable baked polyester outer casing is designed to withstand the harshest of conditions. It’s as tough as the outside of your house. The underside is made of polypropylene to prevent the possibility of corrosion through incompatible metal contact between roofing material and casing.

Forced Circulation Systems

Sometimes known as pumped, split or forced circulation, these systems typically have the storage tank separated from the solar collectors, with the tank located at ground level and the collectors on the roof.

Individual homes

A pump and control unit are utilised to ensure correct water circulation. This allows the collectors to be situated away from the tank. For example, the tank may be situated in a basement while the collectors remain on the roof.

Unlike uncontrolled thermosiphon systems, there is no chance of wasting water from overheating because the solar controller automatically stops the water circulating once the storage tank is full of hot water. It also has inbuilt frost protection for marginal frost areas.

Hot Water Tanks

Our selection of hot water tanks are technologically advanced for maximum efficiency, durability and safety. They come in 200 and 300 litres ensuring a plentiful supply of piping hot water for the whole family. Horizontal on-roof locations or vertical ground-mounted solutions are available to satisfy your particular needs and conditions.
